How to choose a wedding venue?
With so many wedding venues in Cape Town, how do you know which one to choose?
Most likely you will begin by searching online for 'wedding venues in Cape Town'. Then you will take a day or two to drive around and visit them. Like most things in life, you will most likely know the second you arrive if it's what you want or not. But, before you go any further, there's a few important questions you have to ask yourself...
Is this venue suitable for photographs?
The venue looks good, but is there a lot of variety for photographs e.g. vineyard, forest, lake, mountains, fields, buildings, scenery, etc. At most weddings, the couple photoshoot takes place at the venue. So, choosing an interesting venue is very important, one that has shaded areas to escape harsh sunlight, and one that has nothing blocking nice sunset opportunities.
More options = you get a larger variety of wedding photos.
Does the venue have options?
If the weather doesn't play along, you're going to need a backup plan. If the ceremony is outside and the wind is blowing or the rain is lashing down, you need a venue that can quickly adapt.
Being prepared = being relaxed on you wedding day.
Is the venue good for you?
Your wedding is only for one day and you want to enjoy every minute of it. So, traveling long distances or being stuck in traffic is probably the last thing you want to do. Does the venue and surrounding area have nice options for accommodation.
Less travel = you get to enjoy more of your special day.
Is the venue good for your guest?
You will want your guests to feel relaxed and comfortable at your wedding. If you book a venue that is far away from everyone, some of your guests might want to stay nearby, so a good choice of accommodation will be required. Otherwise, guest might have to travel home, meaning they will have to leave early to drive back.
More time with guests = more fun at your wedding.
Is the venue comfortable?
You don't want your guests sweating in the ceremony because there's no cooling system. And, you don't want them being cold at night because the venue has no heating. These are all things to think about. Sunbrellas, umbrellas, fans, lollipops, heaters, blankets, fires, etc.
Happy guests = more happy memories.
A good venue = a better wedding!
